When we saw the pattern for this, we knew we just had to make it. While we like wool as a background, it adds to the expense so we looked for a suitable alternative. We discovered the softest flannel fabric that worked wonderfully - it's not only very soft but has the just right feel for the time period of the piece. We think it's a winner. What about you?
